Welcome, Elizabeth McDyer - Our 2026 PLAN MLK Intern!

Headshot of Elizabeth McDyer

Hello! I am Elizabeth McDyer, a rising 2L at William & Mary Law School in Virginia, and I will be working with PULP this summer to support their work protecting and supporting access to energy for low income communities across the state. I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA, so I am excited to give back to my home state!

At William & Mary, I am a 1L Health Law Association Representative, a member of the International Competition Team, and a Research Assistant for a professor of international and comparative law. I am also a member of the Legal Jogging Club! Before starting law school, I completed my undergraduate studies at Case Western Reserve University in biology. While there, I also completed my M.A. in Bioethics and Medical Humanities my senior year. Outside the classroom, I competed on the varsity swim team all four years and co-captained the team my senior year.

After graduating from Case, I continued my studies in health law and policy at Columbia University, where I earned my M.P.H. While at Columbia, I completed my Applied Practicum project by studying how the intersection of energy insecurity and medical vulnerability is impacted by utility law and policy. This was my first exposure to utility law, and it helped me understand how these policies can have disparately negative impacts vulnerable communities, including low income households, residents with disabilities, residents with chronic health conditions, and more. Having completed a year of law school, I now hope to continue this work with PULP and help preserve utility access for those who need it.
